Awakening 1 selected for 2006 DC Independent Film Festival

The DC Independent Film Festival showcases world premieres, award winning features, shorts, animation and documentaries by local, national and international filmmakers. See the website here: www.DCIFF.org.

My first episode of Awakening was chosen as one of the nine Machinima films accepted! There were 1,200 film enteries all together (not all animation, but films total). For a complete list of the selected Machinima films, click here.

The festival takes place March 2-12, but that's about as much as I know about it. Appearantly the selected directors will ge their picture in the festival program, so the exposure should be fun!

Hey Gale,
I still have 5.5 weeks to go. I think it was the end of Jan that I said three months, which would be me closer to April. The exact due date is April 17th! It's cool to hear that people are looking forward to her birth; I'd definitely fill you in on the details!

Anyways, I thought you were a guy at first visiting your movie site and, I was quite surprised you were a girl x3 I have been watching two The Sims 2 movies. The Strangerhood by Rooster Teeth, which is very well made and yours so far.

Keep up the great work :3

April, I'm a huge fan of your work, and I wish you and your family the best! I was curious if you had any background in drama or film, because you really seem to have a knack for it. Also, I don't know if it was an accident or not, but The Awakening series is a really good analogy for being Born Again.

Nope, it wasn't an accident. We like to write stories that have deeper meanings and make the viewers think about life on a deeper level. It wasn't meant to be an exact parallel, but to make people think that there is more to life than just what meets the eye. ;-)

I don't/didn't have any experience in film or editing/directing, but I do have some experience in drama. I did a lot of plays and acting while in school.
